Five Elements | Panch Mahabhootas

Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe, created the five essential elements called Panch Mahabhootas in the kind of lords of separate senses like Agni, Vayu, Prithvi, Jal, and Akash (EARTH, AIR, SPACE, FIRE, and WATER), etc. Our body also has of all these five elements ('Panchbhoota' or 'Panchtatva').

These all five elements remain in the Universe in a specific pre-decided proportion. These are beyond individual perception.
Space(Akash) is the connection between humans and God. The deity of Space is Lord Brahma.

The whole creation, whether it is Planets, Stars, Moons, or every kind of life, is formed up of these five elements(Panch Mahabhootas). In buildings, each direction is related to one element. A balanced state is positive and harmonious, and an imbalanced state is the cause of adverse effects. It is the balance or imbalance between these Five Elements or 'Panchtatva' that makes one's places virtual paradise or hell.

The basic assumption of Vastu Shastra is that there is ever an ethereal and constant interrelation among all the five elements. Hence, any attempt by humans to develop on land must consider all the five elements and plan accordingly. A structure that is made according to the principles of Vastu Shastra will give occupants energy, health, power, comfort, happiness, wealth, and prosperity. A building that is not following the principles of Vastu Shastra leads to discord and disharmony living statuses, resulting in loss of money, wealth, health, happiness, and prosperity. With proper understanding and implementation of Vastu Shastra can benefit the occupants to achieve their actual potential.

First of all, Space(Akash) was created, from Space, air appeared, from air fire came, from fire water appeared, and finally, Earth originated from the Water. These five elements of Space, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth are infinite inside us and around us. A perfect Vastu Shastra pays great attention to the proper balancing of these five elements, as these are nearly connected with our five senses. In Vastu Shastra, appropriate Space is allotted to all of these five elements.

Space (Aakash)

The sky is endless Space. The whole Universe exists in this ethereal vacant Space. Human lives in the boundless Space. Renaming all the other four elements are arranged skillfully in Space (Akash). Space that gives shelter to all the remaining four elements. The Brahamsthana – in Vastu – gives Space (Akash) element or upward direction with Brahma as its deity whose governs from the center. Space signifies expansion, development, improvement, addition, extension, spread, communication, and even thought process Mental Space.
Space gives an insight of direction and the capability to get organized, assuring shine in all that one does. Space provides us the insight, knowledge, and awareness to learn new creative and useful ideas.
Inadequate space elements will generate problems of suppression and depression.

Air (Vayu)

The air element has two features i,e, sound, and sense of touch. Next to the Space element, the air is the second significant element. The Northwest sector is related to Air elements, and The deity is Lord Vishnu. The principal quality of the air element is sparse or touching sense.
Planet Saturn rules the air. Air carries oxygen, which is necessary for the human body. Air or 'Vayu' is what provides aid to all living on the Earth. Without oxygen, no alive creation would persist on our planet. Air can measure in many ways: moisture, airflow, temperature, pressure, composition, etc. Air (Vayu) represents growth in one's life. Air elements is also linked with the flow, mainly rotational movement, so it brings refreshment, pleasure, fun, joy, and happiness in life. Air (Vayu) provides the determination and courage to attempt new ideas, and provide an opportunity for growth, and to explore one's inner-self. One may get a chance to meet somebody who paves the door for one's growth and performance.

Fire (Agni)

The Fire elements have two features; they are heat and light. Its chief feature is the sight sense. It rules our eyes and color system. The South is the direction of Fire.
The thermonuclear result in the Sun is the source of heat and light created by the Sun. Earth receives heat and light from the Sun. Besides sound and sense of touch, the Fire elements have the feature of shape and sight. Fire is the source of all energies. It includes solar energy, atomic energy, thermal energy. Without light and heat, life will be extinct.
Fire symbolizes light and heat, which account for the day and night, the seasons, energy, power, enthusiasm, passion, and vigor. Fire is the driving power behind all living processes, and therefore, it is equated with money in the modern era. It can convert one's life with courage and enthusiasm. The Fire elements bring fame and recognition among the masses. It provides zeal, vigor, power, strength, vitality, confidence, and money, which play an important role behind life and its processes.

Water (Jal)

Among the five elements, Water (Jal) is the most scarce of all the five elements. The Northeast (Ishan) Zone is considered best for the underground Water tank. We get Water in liquid (Water) form, solid (ice), and gas (vapor) form. The liquid form gets transformed into clouds and ultimately converts into Water again and reaches the Earth. Water has four characteristics viz., sound, sense of touch, shape, and taste. It is related to the tongue. Water is a volatile element and changes its form with the changes in temperature. Water, in its pure form, does not have any color, odor, or taste. Water is a shy element and tends to flow downward. It seeks to penetrate the Earth or dries on getting heated.
Water (Jal) is the most scarce of all the five elements, so it is the main criteria in the site selection for Vastu. The Northeast sector governs Water. The deity of NE is Lord Brahma.
Water (Jal) is the essence of all living beings on Earth. Our body has a substantial degree of Water. The Earth itself has almost 70% water. Water is connected with the new ideas, purity of thoughts, flowing of new possibilities in one's life, healing energy, immunity, and healing of health though their approach towards life becomes spiritual and philosophical.

Earth (Prithvi)

Earth (Prithvi) has a specified shape and size, and so has its shortcomings. The southwest direction relates to the earth element, with tamsic guna. The Earth is favorable only when it is stable, and so the earthquakes are never welcomed. Appropriate actions should be taken to make the buildings earthquake resistant. The Earth is our mother; Mother Earth gives security, stability, balance, endless patience, and ability. This element carries the weight of all the structures on it. A load of all the buildings is shifted finally to the Earth. The site of the building should have Earth with excellent bearing capacity. The earth element has the nature of 'gandh' or odor. Foul odor arising from the cremation ground, garbage-dumping ground, stagnant Water, industries, power plants, and sewage water drains is harmful to the solid parts of the human body. Air develops a sense of peace and harmony with the whole world, particularly with those associated with blood.
